TaylorMade M1 Special Edition Driver

Priced: $799.99 MSRP

Review:

This club caught my attention when I was surfing the web a few days ago. Even though I play with Titleist clubs, I would like to hit with this club someday. Compared to the other drivers that TaylorMade makes, this one stands out from the rest mainly because they probably made it in honor of the incredible American pride that was displayed during the week of the Olympics. As far as the design goes, I really like how the top is divided with white and navy, the bottom has a navy and red slider (for adjusting the club), and the side has a small American flag that adds a nice complement to the whole appearance. World Number 2 Dustin Johnson of America was recently spotted using this club.

Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls

Priced: $39.99 MSRP

Review:

Compared to the 2016 Titleist ProV1, it has a distinctly softer touch around the green. Currently being used by all Callaway Tour Professionals. I’ve been using this ball for a few weeks, and I’ve noticed that my scores have gotten better.

After testing, I have found out that the ball behaves differently from other balls I’ve used:

Driver: Very long off the tee, with little sidespin.
Irons: Long, with little sidespin.
Putter: Noticeably soft

The Open & The Travelers Championship

From July 14-17, Phil Mickelson of America fired a major record-setting score of 63 using a Chrome Soft ball in the first round of the Open Championship. During the final round of that week, Mickelson’s playing partner Henrik Stenson of Sweden, a fellow Callaway Tour Staffer but using a Titleist ProV1, shot another 63 and finished the tournament at 20-under-par, which was yet another record-setting major score total. Until then, The Open’s tournament record was held by Tiger Woods at 19-under-par.

From August 4-7, the Travelers Championship was held in Cromwell, Connecticut at TPC River Highlands. During the final round, Jim Furyk of America shot the lowest single-round score of 58 in PGA Tour history using a Chrome Soft ball.

Very well done, Mr. Mickelson, Mr. Stenson and Mr. Furyk!

Nike Momentum Fly Swing Knit Alpha

Priced: $100 MSRP

Review:

I’ve never worn this before, but it looks like a fairly comfortable polo to wear on the course. I’m a fan of the color blocking, so I like that part of the shirt. During the past several PGA Tour tournaments, I’ve noticed that Nike Athlete Rory Mcilroy has been wearing this shirt for a little while. It’s a look that goes well with power and speed.

Bushnell Tour V4 Rangefinder

Priced: $399.99 MSRP

Review: Shown to the right is a device called a rangefinder that can measure the distance to the hole. One can use it by looking through the scope on the front, much like a telescope.
This rangefinder, released about two weeks ago, is Bushnell’s latest and most technologically advanced rangefinder. Bushnell’s products are being used by 97% of the PGA Tour professionals. Although most of the tour staff haven’t had much experience yet with this rangefinder, I think they will like this product.
