The Trendy Golfer’s Merchandise Blog: Men’s Olympic Golf Edition

Greetings! Hope you all enjoyed reading my first post. This week’s post will be recapping the men’s Olympic golf competition.

Olympic Golf

Golf returns to the 2016 Rio Olympics for the first time since the 1904 Summer Olympics. It features two competitive events, men’s and women’s individual tournaments.

Each division has 60 competitors (60 men and 60 women) and the men’s competition ended last Sunday, while the women’s competition which started this Wednesday will end on Saturday.

Unfortunately due to the Zika virus, players such as World Number 1 Jason Day of Australia, Number 2 Dustin Johnson of America, Jordan Spieth of America, Rory Mcilroy of Northern Ireland, and Adam Scott of Australia chose not to participate.

The Course

Golf course architect Gil Hanse designed the Olympic Golf Course exclusively for the Olympics. The course is a par-71, featuring par-5’s that start both the front and back nine. It also features a few very short par-4’s, designed to reward those who hit good tee shots to set up potential eagle (that’s getting the ball in the hole in 2 shots on a par-4) opportunities.

TV Coverage

NBC will be airing 130 hours of live coverage throughout the week.

Adidas ClimaCool USA Flag Polo

Priced: $85 MSRP

Review: With the Olympics still going on, it’s perfect timing for this week’s hot item to be Team USA’s uniform for the final round. This new polo from Adidas Golf offers a bold tone of red while adding in the American flag in the background. When paired with a navy hat and shorts, it becomes a nice and classy look for both on and off the golf course.

As I conclude my second post, I hope you have enjoyed learning what happened during the men’s Olympic golf tournament. I will be back next week with the recap of the women’s Olympic golf tournament as well as more of the latest golf merchandise.
