Gallery: Homecoming Games 2021

Even though the ILH season was cancelled for basketball this year, HBA ran a basketball “experience” for its athletes. At the start, the athletes began participating first in individual drills outdoors. Then they were allowed to move into the gym. Then they began drills where they were allowed to share basketballs. In mid February, they were allowed to have 5 on 5 scrimmages. Throughout, the players have had to wear masks, wash hands, and sanitize hands and equipment. They’ve also had to stay socially distanced.

On Saturday, February 27, the school was able to host Homecoming/Senior Night basketball games for HBA’s boys and girls team, with teams split up into “Black and Gold” teams. All players were tested prior to the game. Unlike any Homecoming game in school history, there were no spectators allowed. Instead, supporters were encouraged to attend the games virtually by making cardboard cutouts or signs. The game was live-streamed on the school website.

Justin Mayeshiro

Hello, my name is Justin Mayeshiro and I am a senior at HBA. Since I enjoyed the time I spent last year as a writer/photographer for the Eagle Eye, I decided to continue working for the Eagle Eye with the hopes to create even better news pieces this year. After a long year of online school, I am excited to capture the story of our return to on-campus learning. I cannot wait to continue writing works for the student body to read or capture the important moments of school life such as sports and other school events. Since this is my final year of News Production I intend to spend it directing my passions of writing, photography, and videography towards providing the student body with meaningful and informative news stories throughout the school year.
