Jennifer Le

My name is Jennifer Lê, and I am currently a sophomore. I have a little sister, whom I love very much, named Melanie. My hobbies include swimming, watching Netflix for eight hours straight, and spending time with my family and friends. I also love science, especially biology. I love learning about anatomy and physiology and medicine. Last summer, I attended a medical class and even had the opportunity to see a cadaver! Students got to see the inside of the human body. We felt the different organs and learned about its functions. I got to hold a fresh heart! It was truly an incredible experience. During the class, I learned how to take vitals, interact with patients, brainstorm diseases/problems based on observations, do sutures, work an endoscopy, and use high-class surgery tools to digitally clean a patient's stomach. I’ve also participated in a simulator game, where the patient goes into V-fib, and the “doctors” must know what to do right away. This amazing experience urged my interest in medicine and my desire to become a doctor. It doesn’t require much skill in creative writing to become a doctor, but one does need the skill of communication. I struggle with writing, though I love to write. I don’t see myself as a good writer. I love expressing myself through talking, but lack the ability to express myself through words on paper. I hope that I am able to learn and develop more creative and deeper writing skills, used to express myself for which, one day, I can use to relate to patients better.

What do you love? There are mainly five things that my world revolves around: family, friends, Netflix, chocolate, and the field of medicine. My aspiring dream is to someday become a cardiothoracic surgeon—one who specializes in surgery on organs in the chest. I am extremely passionate about medicine.
